TF Dynamites will be defending their championship and going for the
third title in a row. This also marks the 4th year of Srikandi
Return-2-Victory project initiated and head by SK Norhana Jabbar '80.

This year tourney will be held at SSP Cyberjaya and will start this Friday 29/5
till 1/6.

For the uninitiated, our head coach is Mr Liew Yong Choon who is also
MC Cagers coach. Our coach are En Halim Husein from UTM and En Ihsan
aka Abg Ise (K.AnaJabbar hubby). Both were Mr. Liew's player sometimes
in the 70's.

So girls, don you long sleeve, sun block, cap/topi/payung and brave the
malaysia summer heat to support our girls fight for the tittle. The SSP
girls have been training sooo to get back the championship trophy which
they have lost to us after retaining it for more than 10 years. This
time they mean business - they are the host.

The games will be at SSP court D.

Jangan lupa jugak ajak cik kiah, kak tipah, makcik gayah dan juga semua
kawan2 sepermainan di STF dulu untuk sama-sama menjerit and melompat di
tepi gelanggang. It's surely a huge stress reliever - tak tipu punye.

Salam Sisters,

Just to officially announce that STF Dynamites has beaten TKC 32-19 during
the final at HKSBP di Mersing. Both schools will represent the south zone
end of this month at Sek Seri Puteri, Cyberjaya.

Thanks to all Srikandi yang menyokong, memberi semangat serta doa sehingga
kita berjaya ke tahap ini. Special thanks to SK Saidah'80 kerana telah
provide accomodation for R2V coaches. Kak Mariamah, thanks for the dinner
treat. Everyone asked me to sampaikan ucapan terima kasih to you.... To the
rest, terima kasih di atas doa-doa..

Will keep you posted on the schedule for the national level finals di
Cyberjaya soon....

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Dear Srikandis,

Alhamdullilah the 22nd AGM of Srikandi Tun Fatimah was carried out within
the ambit of the Constitution of our Society. The proceedings went smoothly
in accordance to the Agenda. There were tablings of the various reports by
the EXCO 2007-2009. The reports were accepted with some amendments.

Srikandis, the good news is, through the committment of the EXCO 2007-2009
and our members we have now a sum of $$$$$ in fixed deposit which will
be untouched ( a resolution to enact such was passed in the AGM ) which will
form the foundation of funds towards having Srikandi Tun Fatimah own
premise. So Srikandis, lets link our arms together to continue to increase
the fund for the Srikandi Tun Fatimah building. And heartiest felt
congratulations to the EXCO 2007-2009 to have been able to pull such a feat!

In accordance to the Constitution of our society a new set of office-bearers

Sekolah Tun Fatimah.

The nucleus of our communications and networking will be the Batch

1. S: Dinner untuk apa ni?
J: Dinner ini untuk lancar dan kutip dana untuk projek yang khusus untuk kita-kita, bekas pelajar STF. Nama projek ini ialah S4S, singkatan untuk Srikandi-for-Srikandi. Itulah sebabnya harganya RM3000 per meja. InsyaAllah kita harapkan lebih 60% dapat dijana sebagai derma kepada tabung. Jika ada di antara kita yang tak dapat hadir ke dinner ini, jangan risau, masih boleh menderma kepada tabung S4S selepas ini.

2. S: Bila dan Di mana dinner ni?
J: Tempat: Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa, 13, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur. Ia sederet dengan Ascot.

3. S: Senang tak nak park kereta nanti?
J: Memang susah sikit sebab tempatnya di hotel tu terhad. So jika bawa kereta dan tidak mahu guna khidmat "valet", boleh park di tempat parking umum di hadapan hotel. So perlahankan kereta dan himpit ke kiri selepas melepasi Mandarin Oriental, bagi signal kiri dan lihat sign board "PARKING" di sebelah kiri. Harga, tak berapa pasti...maybe RM6 kot. Gelap sikit dan jaga sikit kalau pakai kasut tinggi bila jalan kat tempat parking tu. ok.

4. S: Apa agenda dinner nanti?
J: Seperti biasa, agenda utama dinner, adalah makan... tapi dinner kali ini, ada 3 perkara unik: a) Makan cara BUFFET sebabnya: lebih banyak pilihan dan boleh ikut selera masing2.
b) Dinner: tidak formal dan mirip kepada zaman "Annual Party" di STF dulu-dulu. Penghibur: Kita-kita jelah.. Adik2 zaman moden, katanya dah tak ada annual party.
c) Menderma sambil bersilaturrahim

Namun, kita akan bahagikan dinner kita kepada 3 bahagian utama:
Bahagian pertama: iaitu sebelum makan - penerangan mengenai S4S ni. Ucapan2 pembukaan mestilah ada.
Bahagian ke-2: Makan. sesi berkenalan 'networking' dan pertunjukan (rahsia...tungguu) Bahagian ke-3: Deklamasi sajak, gurindam, dsb, karaoke oleh kita-kita.
Lucky draw insyaAllah ada juga.

5. S: Bila dan bagaimana saya nak kena bayar untuk dinner ni?
J: Oh soalan cepu mas tu!! Tolonglah bayar sebelum datang ke dinner. Ini amat memudahkan AJK dinner yang sudah memang nak patah kaki dan tangan....

Allahamdullilah the STF basketball team has brought the VICTORY again by retaining the Piala Toh Puan Hajah Zainab for the 2nd consecutive times on May 26th 2008 at 4.20 pm @ SMSAH, Jitra.

I must admit our gals had the right level of confidence throughout the tournament to trash all our opponents (as written by a spectator in his email below). They trained very hard to defend the championship. Syukran! no major injuries and one of the key players whom suffered torn sole ligament recovered just on time to head for HSKBP. Our center, Siti Amirah Binti Zainal (Mira - F5) was voted the Most Valuable Player. Sains Sabah was the runner up, Sek Seri Puteri came out 3rd and Sains Kuching was fourth.

The 3rd season of R2V has concluded . As the coordinator for the project, I wish to extend my heartiest appreciation to the following individuals and parties for their support and commitment:

* Pn Hajah Junaidi (Pengetua STF), Pen Kanan (Pn Hajah Saidah, Pn Kamisah, Tn Hj Azman), basketball teachers (En Hanif & Cik Falisha) and drivers (En Sharom & En Salleh) for the full cooperation extended throughout the season. Tanpa kerjasama padu pihak sekolah & R2V, mustahil projek ini tiba ke tahap ini. Terima kasih kerana menyokong sepenuhnya segala bentuk program yang dicadangkan oleh R2V untuk membangunkan satu pasukan yang mantap. Penghargaan juga untuk penyediaan tempat kediaman utk kegunaan jurulatih-jurulatih R2V di sekolah semenjak Disember 2007. Urusan pentadbiran, perjalanan pelajar & pengangkutan diuruskan dengan lancar.

* To the panel of coaches headed by Mr. Liew. I am really amaze with your ability to predict very accurate opponents' strategies, winning margins and your strategies to counter attack our opponents. No wonder people in the field call you 'Tok Bomoh'. I suppose the HUGE winning margin in each game is a reflection of the effort you have put in to develope the team since 2006, We don't know how to express our gratitude anymore.... Coach Halim, the ever calm & detail coach whom was always there to help coach the girls during the weekdays and his 'ever willing' attitude to learn from his Head Coach. Please extend our appreciation to yr wife, Nurul & children. Terima kasih daun keladi. SK Safina - too bad you were unable to take leave from work during the HSKBP but your coaching effort over the weekends will be remembered by the players. I can understand your frustrations when you were not able to travel to STF during the weekends due to work commitment. My husband, Sdr. Ihsan whom started as a co-coordinator of MCKK Quest-4-Glory but has moved into coaching the Dynamites as well since he has been going to STF very frequent this year. I saw and heard other SBPs struggled to find a coach.. I'm grateful to God for sending STF a panel of coaches ranging from the ages of 30s, 40s, approaching 50s & 60s. Aren't we blessed?

* Srikandi EXCOs: from the President (Kak Mariamah), VP (SK Sue), Secretary (SK Hanazita), Treasurer (SK Anis) & AJK: thank you for making my work very, very easy. Frankly, I love the phone calls when Anis would say, "K.ana, R2V nak pakai duit tak?" "How much do you need for the tournament?" My request has never, never been turned down or questioned. Excos, I truly appreciate your trust on my judgement. K.Mariamah, your forever willing to 'treat the girls for a makan & pass the bill to me' promises had delighted and motivated the girls each time I made the announcements to them prior to an important tournament. Thank you for your staunch support and concern for the progress of the project. Also, appreciate our private conversations over the phone, "berapa tak cukup, bagitau Kak Marimah..." The girls said Thank you for your Pizza treat that nite.

Preparation for HKSBP (PPM)

Assalamualaikum Srikandi Sekalian,

Untuk makluman semua, HSKBP Zone Selatan akan berlangsung pada bulan April ini di Sek Men Agama Persekutuan, Labu, Negeri Sembilan.Tarikh belum ditetapkan lagi dan akan diberitahu sebaik sahaja dapat confirmation dari pihak sekolah. In preparation for that, R2V sudah pun mula menjalankan latihan yang perlu kerana seperti biasa our challenge is 'membancuh ramuan baru' - pemain Tingkatan 5 2007 meninggalkan kita & a new combination has to be trained based on their skills, size, etc.

'Panel of Coaches' tahun ini, Mr.Liew, Sdr Halim, Sdr Ihsan and Sk Safina sedang bertungkus lumus untuk melatih pemain-pemain untuk tahun ini disebabkan ketiadaan pemain tingkatan 5 tahun lepas. Mr. Liew is actually trying out to form a 2008 team. To test the new combination, we will be participating in JB Open U18 (yang sedang berlansung sekarang hinggan Mac ) dan MSSD JB nanti.

As previous years, our main objective is to win the PTPTZ Cup which will be held from May 24-30th di Sek Men Sains Sultan Abdul Halim, Jitra Kedah. To get to the finals in Kedah, we have to become the champ or runner up for the Zone level. In view of this, I need help from all of you on the following aspects. Kindly pass the words around to your batchmates who are not in the e-group, pls.

a) Sponsor for jersey. Each pair is $80 min. we intend to make only 1 set this year since we can use set lama yang tidak koyak/buruk.

b) Sponsor for players shoes. We managed to get a pair of shoe for $160 (Retail at $259). We think kesian juga budak-budak perlu bayar dari their pocket money. The shoe is rather expensive to some because a good pair like this could last till the finals in May. We are looking for sponsors for the main 15 deserving players. If you are not able to sponsor a pair, pls sponsor sebelah ($80)- kiri or kanan. Kalau nak sponsor whole team pun ok jugak! If a particular batch sponsored the whole team shoes or jerseys especially when that batch celebrate their XX years anniversary - lagi bagus!

c) We have to have an intensive camp during the school holidays from 8-16th March because if we don't, we can't be tip top for the Zone Selatan kerana biasalah if we don't train, stamina menurun & hilang game temperment. In view of that, any amount of CASH would be much appreciated. We are planning to bring the top 15 players only (due to budget). We need about $5000 for food & transportation. We need Mr. Liew's help for that .

d) For the national level in May nanti, ada srikandi yang menetap di Jenan (daerah Kubang Pasu) boleh volunteer rumah or bilik utk R2V (2 or 3 person )? We also need help if you could recommend an apartment, homestay or hotel yang berdekatan dgn SEMSAH. Any Srikandi would like to come to support?

Last Saturday, we (Batch 77) had a very small get-together at Dr. Hairuszah's house in Taman Maluri. Since I don't drive and dont know the way to Zah's house, I was told by Zah to follow Laila Alias. We met at Tesco Shah Alam and we went together.
I wrote a few lines about Laila as I know her then and now. I am putting this up in srikandi blog with the hope that somebody junior would read it and smile with me.

Here it is .

Laila , Namamu Teratas.

The first person that made friends with me the first day I joined MAB was Norlaila Said, a very pregnant lady from Pahang. We stayed friends till today. We were separated for a while when I had to work in the finance department and later to the Carpark Management in KLIA while she stayed in Subang Airport. Lucky her! I had to travel daily to KLIA for 6 years..and grew bigger along the way…he he he..I got my second chin while snoring on the bus! Later when I was transferred back to HQ in Subang, we got close again.

I can tell her anything and everything. Monday morning is never complete if I don't see and tell her of the weekend happenings. Everything dari cerita luar hingga hal-hal dalam kain, semuanye dia tahu, that's the level of friendship that we have. And I trust her completely. Nothing bad about me came out of her mouth and my secrets are safe with her. Best kan ada kawan gitu! And when the song 'Laila namamu teratas' by Amy Search became popular, I sang it to her. She just smile..

And, the first person that I got to know in this world is also a Laila. She was my mother. She used to tell me of the dreams she always had that really delighted her and me. She was beautiful and energetic and I miss her so much. When she was in Hospital KL, down with cancer the nurses there nicknamed her 'Laila Manja' and she liked it. Hhmmm..

And one Laila Alias from STF batch 77 asked me two days ago 'How close were we when we were in STF?' ha ha ha…This is the teratasest of my Laila's question! I laughed and Laila continued 'I know that I was very strict and very quiet back then'. Holding her hand, I don't have the heart to tell her that thirty years ago , in STF I tried my best to steer clear from her way!

But this Laila that greeted me in the Shah Alam Tesco parking area is a different person altogether. She talked and talked all the way to Dr. Hairuszah's house in Taman Maluri (for our batch get-together) that I could barely say anything at all. I enjoyed hearing her talking. Her mixed Malay-English was like a song to my ears. Dear God almighty…people do changed. I never imagined her as such a talkative lady.

So Laila Alias…Namamu kini teratas!

Ramadhan at Desa Tun

We all loved Ramadhan at Desa Tun because of so many reasons. The wardens and teachers were nicer than usual, minimum Detention Classes (because everybody behaved??), no morning ‘riadhah’, no house games, no PE, accelerated time tables and the list went on and on.

The funny thing is I can’t remember what was served during ‘sahur’. Can you? Maybe it’s because we all had ‘sahur’ half awake. I usually just shoved whatever food was put on my tray into my mouth. We rarely had any conversation going on at the dining hall. The only objective was, ‘eat fast, so that can go back to my beloved pillow A.S.A.P’. Usually I couldn’t recognize most people during ‘sahur’. Yeah, all STFians looked different during the wee hours. Maybe they’re all like me, never really bothered to comb my hair or splash water on my face, hence the half shut eyes.

The sleep after ‘sahur’ was usually really deep that chances of missing the first morning period were high. Thanks to all the school prefects who would make rounds at the hostel blocks to ensure nobody was getting less education. Hehe. However, there were cases of sudden migraine that forced some of us to drag our feet to the sick bay (and continued sleeping – if there were beds available, lah), only to be awakened by the fierce Kak Normah who would usually ask, ‘Ni apa kena ni?’ Her thundering voice was enough to inspire us to hurry back to the dorm, showered, get dressed and rushed to class. Forget psychological approach and diplomacy, Kak Normah’s voice was more effective.

The accelerated time table was to allow us to take longer naps in the afternoon. Bedtime again, baby! At least that’s what I thought back then. Only recently I realized that when we fast, our concentration period shortens but gets more intense. This is based on my own unofficial research done on myself when I was in Uni. Remind me to elaborate on this in another posting.

The afternoon prep hours during Ramadhan were meaningless (to me, lah). Who could concentrate on the books and finish homeworks when your tummy was busy singing ‘Keronchong Untuk Ana’? Those were my least productive hours during the day.

Surprisingly, there would be surge of energy when it came to ‘round compound’ time! This was when you could see all the happy, pale (hungry) faces walking around the school compound in groups, waiting for ‘break-fast’ time; definitely not discussing school work and exam questions. Haha. What we discussed, I couldn’t really remember but we didn’t do any gossiping or bitching back then. Ah, such pure hearted young ladies. Yes, STF is filled with Gadis Melayu Ayu Pemalu. :)

I could remember ‘break-fast’ menu quite well. There’ll be the dessert: either bubur cha-cha, bubur pulut hitam or bubur kacang; then there were dates; sirap selasih or cincau as the thirst quencher; steamed rice served with the usual ‘lauk pauk’. Thanks to our ever creative ‘AJK Makanan’ from each class and of course, Makcik Dining Hall.

Maghrib prayers were performed at the hostel blocks’ praying rooms, usually late, as we’d take really long time at the dining table to ‘lick-clean’ all the bowls. We all loved the Makcik Dining Hall so much; we helped to ease the ‘doing the dishes’ part.

The highlight of a Ramadhan day had to be racing in our white ‘telekung’ to the gym to get the best ‘saf’ during Isya’ and Tarawikh prayers. Yes dears, those were the times when we performed our ‘solat jemaah’ in the gym. That was before the beautiful surau was built. We usually lost about 5-8 kgs during Ramadhan because of the fasting and the nightly ‘sauna’. The gym was hot, okay… and the fact that the Dewan Besar was so ‘besar’, it blocked all the night breeze from entering the school gym. However it didn’t deter the Ramadhan spirit in us to complete the 8-rakaat of tarawikh plus 3 witir. The spirit would soar even higher if our ‘toings’ were in the nearest saf or better still, if they’re next to us. Waaaa weeeee….. ‘tak larat’, okay. Tengah rukuk pun boleh sengih sorang-sorang.

The second race for the night (this happened during weekends only) will be from the gym to the school canteen. Back then, the Pakcik Kantin sold fish cakes, fish balls, kupang…. You know… all the ‘cucuk-cucuk kat lidi’ stuffs dipped in chili sauce. So, we’d sit at the canteen benches, enjoying the food and chit-chatting until Pakcik Kantin ‘tutup kantin’. Can’t really remember what time the lights went out during Ramadhan, but we usually ended the nights with another round of supper at the dining hall. Buruk lantak or what? Hahahaha. Hungry, what to do….

Oh yeah, during my senior years, we stayed up even on Ramadhan nights. I can’t remember what we were doing. We were either finishing our homeworks (that were supposed to be done during those unproductive afternoon prep hours) or studying for test (only if the test was on the next day, lah…) If the warden was in a really good mood, we’d watch movies on Singapore TV. (To current students, please don’t tell your warden we used to watch late night movies, okay. Hehehe.)

So, obviously the reason why the nap after ‘sahur’ was so deep was …. (please fill in the blanks. I’m sure you know the answer by now.)

On behalf of Exco 2007-2009 and 3S dinner commitee, I wish to thank all kakak2 dan adik2 from all 50th year era. Your presence really boost up our spirit. Hilang semua rasa penat lelah doing the preparation. As usual, byk benda yg kena buat last minute. hehehe...But seeing you ladies clapping, singing, ehmmm.....some even dancing on stage with Abg M.Nasir kita, I'm simply overwhelmed. Worth the time spend.

Wanna hv an insight of wat actually happened to me less than 24 hrs before the 3S Dinner? Hmm..lets's see where do I begin....

Wed 8/08 0800 hours - Previous nite tido at 4am, Mdm treasurer Anis dah calling2. "K Sue, mcm mana ni? Meja juniors ada 1 lagi kosong...loose seats a few...meja a, b,c. d.....tak penuh lagi. Apa nk buat? Camana ni? I kena pi bank, bank in cek. Then antar tiket ke Bangi, then pi KL..... (my reply? we still got time, insyaalah...take it easy)

Bro Azlan @ dinner chairman fr Star - Table Stf camana? You all ada byk kosong lagi ke? Anis camna? Numbering table u all in sequence ke? Sdar berterabur sikit.

Finalised VVIP list dah dapat dari ofis Dt Awg Adek? (my reply?...no worries, insyaallah, under control...Ye ke?)

Thursday 9 Aug

5 - 6 am - Shower, prepare breakfast, kejut kids

7 am - Sent kids to school, pi office to print stuffs. Sempat reply to client emails.

8 am - Drove to PICC. 13 students Star dah tunggu. "Dah bkfast? Where's your teacher?" Star boy's A "Sis, teacher we all will be late. We all ngan Pak Mat, bus driver" blablabla..."Ok, jom pi bkfast. Tolong Sis bawa brg2 ni. You all ni form brape? Form2? Form 4? La....same age ngan anak saya lah" Star boy's B, C, D "we all bole panggil mummy tak? Hmm....jangan jadi "Mamma San" tak pe! hehehehe kelakar, 13 of them trotting along with Pak Mat besides me. Suddenly my two 3S dinner "bosses" (Dtk Awg Adek & Dtk Hilmi) muncul out of nowhere! "Sue, I nak tengok hall. VVIP seating arrangement camna?" "Holding room mana? Restroom Vip mana? "Table occupancy camna? Penuh ke?" "Pukul 9am ke rehearsal?" "Sound system, lightings camna?"

(??? Wah bombarded with questions. Calling calling commitee members. Where r u guys?) "Aa...Dtk, the others will arrive shortly but your Starians boys are here. Why don't you join them for breakfast? (hehehehe...trying to buy time till all the commitee members dtg!! Alhamdulillah.....both of them pun comfortablly seated and chit chat. Hmmm....yummy ...ada lontong with kuah kacanglah for breakfast.... Being a heavy breakfast eater, berketul-ketullah nasi himpit yg I ambik. Alamak, bila jeling kat pinggan depa....la...makan ondeh2 & kuih lapis je?! Segan silulah I nak makan you. Nampak sangat mcm pelahap plak! issh....

Finally, dinner commitee came in one after another. Safe by the bell.....let them do the answering so that I can enjoy my lontong.

9 -10am - "En Razak @ Sdar, where's your boys? Dah sampai? Hah? bas depa rosak? Ganti bas kilang? OK..OK...tak pa....take your time."

- "Cik Suhana, Cik Hadiza @ Stf...gals kita dah sampai? Hujan lebat? Baru lepas Pagoh? Ok...ok...jangan suruh Pakcik bawak laju2! Don wori...kita tunggu..."

9 - 12noon.

a.Exhibition team Ryzah, Kak Ina, Kak Baya busy pungah memungah brg. Start gantung menggantung. Since sebelah menyebelah booth Star, depa pun tolong menolong each other. Pinjam meminjam tools. hehehe...setiakawan abis lah! Steady Ryzah, Stf BOLEH! Tiba2 Ryzah tanya "K Sue, ada....#%*^&*#%??" "Alamak sis! dah basah kuyup ke? Call any of our gals yg on the way, singgah kedai beli @$%^&*#. (sori sis if this is a bit personal, but your display of determination...I'm speechless & burst with pride to be associated with such a dedicated Srikandi! Good job sis!)

c. Projector - Kak Kimah, came all the way to PICC to pinjam her projector to Ryzah. Thank you very, very much sis. Really wish you could attend the dinner though....

b. Kak Che Na - "Mana nak pinjam trolley Sue?" "Bro Star, pinjam trolley boleh?" hehehe

c. Hall - With Eden people. "Add another 2 chairs on main table. Flowers? Name cards? Kena type sendirikah? Bla..bla....

d. Rehearsal begins. - Sound system, lightings, students lining up all the way from holding room on 1st floor till hall which is on the ground floor! Jauh tu.....jenuh gak up down, up down, nasib baik dapat lontong tadi. Bole sprint sikit, otherwise pitam den kalau makan si ondeh2 je. hehehehe

12:30 noon

a. Some goes for lunch. Bro Azlan @ dinner c/man fr Star tambah pening, seated at one corner. Just realized table arrangement in hall tak sama dlm print out. Ooppssss.....dah nak kena re-numbered balik....nasib baik discover earlier, if not, memang kelam kabut giler!

b. More support team came. Thank you, thank you, Molly, Laila, Dilla, Rose Anida, sapa lagi ya? Maaf if I miss out anyone. Adib & her bodyguard? She's among the 1st to arrive! Thanks sis...susah2 aje....

c. JPM protocol officers came to assist - Table seating? OK. Spelling of VVIP names with their title? OK. Suddenly when one of the officer flip the table skirtings at Rosmah seat...jeng..jeng..jeng...ngam2 kaki meja kat situ! How is she going to sit comfortably with the table legs in between?! Opps....not done purposely okay..(wink, wink) So, they have to rearrange the whole table set ups! Aiyo........

d. Oh yes! Kak Wa pun ada. Dia drop by straight from Johor. Thank you dear...you always have a "calming" effect on us all! hehehe.....

2 - 3pm - After solat Zohor, costume people dah buzy matching the costumes to suit the students. Oo....problem...how to do cucuk sanggul? Our gals bertudungkan? Some of the baju kebangsaan like Kadazan, Iban, sleeveless...Last2 have to call Pn Pgtua to seek opinion. The mak andam siap buat demo lagi on one of the gals. Hair still covered with black tudung and some areas covered with flowers & headgears. When the teachers, students, rep PIBG (Kak Ina) hehehe...puas hati, baru depa start preparing the gals. Kesian Anis kena lari ke Alamanda Mall to buy long sleeves inner baju for the short sleeves ones!

4 - 6pm - Most people dah balik berkemas. Alamak, I sangkut lagi with Eden people pasal table tu...Aiyo, tukar baju kat toiletlah jawabnya......Went to check on the students. Alamak the gals tak siap2 lagi2? Bila nak make up the 26 boys ni? Usher them to eat first. Check list, check list, do I miss anything?? Alamak....dah almost 6:20pm, i comot & busuk lagi! Run!!!!!!!

The rest is history lah kan......Gosh, I got carried away. Should spare you ladies the boredom going through details on the last hour of preparation kan? Sorry ye for being so long winded...wink! wink!

Last but not least, thank you once more to all Srikandis yg mengerah tenaga tanpa berkira, yang sanggup dtg jauh2, yang datang straight from office pun ramai....Setiap majlis yg besar macam ni sedikit sebanyak ada cacat celanya. Minta maaf banyak2 atas segala kekurangan. Insyaallah, akan dibaiki in future. Thank you again sisters for all your support!

Pagi ni (as expected), i dah terlajak bangun ...bertempik sendiri melompat nak pi keje...hehe...nasib boss sporting..(x-SIGS!!! hehe).

fuiihhh...M NASIR WAS REALLY A CHARM!!!! gara2 dia lah kitorg sampai umah kul 3 pagi..hehe...MEMANG BEST!!! SPORTING GILER SBB KITA RASADIA NYANYI MORE THAN WHAT WE PAY HIM!

ishh..ish..ishh....baguih tullah m nasir nih....(nanti kita hire dia lagi ek!;)) memang rugi besor sape2 miss event semalam...IT WAS A GATHERINGOF 'RAKAN2 SEPERMAINAN' masa kecik dulu!!!

talking about our used-to-be-our-playground...yg paling kita geli gusi tu bila tengok k.eijabergambor sakan dgn A2 sized article dia pasal debating teams(star/stf/sdar)....tetiba...muncul seorang jejaka STAR yg rupanya2 WAS ONE OF THOSE IN THE SAME PICTURE!!! pecah perut k.eija gelak sbbjumpa balik geng debate yg dia fought against...tengok ke articletu...tak ubah cam segment BEFORE & AFTER dlm wheel of fortune tu..heheh...

apa2 pun, seronok tengok BIG HUGE GIGANTIC GATHERING...i estimateada 1200 pax mlm tu...AND M NASIR WAS A GREAT CHOICE!!!!

Yesterday was a great night. My 2 guests are so very happy thanks to K. Mariamah & Anis. They enjoyed the event. I even started the joy dance with M. Nasir on stage. I suppose the medicine that Dilla gave me made me go high! (I was having a flu and coughing none stop). We even get to go back stage since both of them knows M. Nasir relatively well. We had a chat and I had to give my door gift to M. Nasir since he doesn't have one. He was elated.

I even got to shake hands with DPM and wife on the way coming in from the restroom. And there M.Nasir starting the show!

This morning one of my guest sms me stating that our picture was in TV3 7am news. So watch out the upcoming news ok. And not to mention coming to the office this morning, the basement parking at Menara TM is practically empty even when it is already 8.05 am. I suppose there's a lot of STAROBA and SDARIAN in these building. Ha Ha Ha. Thanks to all for the work put in in the dinner.

Calling ex-sbp students! it's the time of year again, when we gather to meet up old friends and at the same time lose those 'spare-tyres' with good 'ol sporting event!

Last year, The 2006 tournament was held on 26 March 2006 at Rio De Futsal, Subang USJ. We have received a total of 300 spectators and participants from all ages. The 2006 tournament included category for girls' apart from the category for boys' to promote an equal environment for both gender. A total of 28 teams participated of which 20 teams were from the boys' alumni and 8 teams were from the girls' alumni. Thank you all!

Hari ni hari 'keramat' untuk ahli2 pancaragam Sekolah Tun Fatimah. Hari ini, tanggal 28hb Jun 2007, akan berlangsung pertandingan pancaragam bagi peringkat negeri Johor. Pfftt. Sebenarnya,bukan ahli2 pancaragam sahaja yang terasa bahangnya, bekas2 ahli pancaragam turut merasakan perkara yang sama. Goosebumps!

Believe me or not, pagi tadi lapar ya amat b4 sampai ke office. Sampai ke office, on pc, popupreminder luas terbentang depan mata. Damn! 'Band comp arini'. Terus hilang selera. *Mcm kite plaknak bertanding :p* Yang sedihnye, sekarang ni, Band Comp selalu diadakan pada hari2 weekdays, bukanlagi weekend macam dulu2. Boring betol! Macam mane nak p sokong? I remembered in the year 2002/2003, masa National Comp, ramai Srikandi yang turun sokong coz it was on the weekend. Seronok la sket.

Masih terasa-rasa the time when we were going for band comp. That was 13 years ago, aite Inaleem? Rase nak demam pon ade. Pagi petang siang malam la pektis. Dgn 1 tujuan - we want to win! 'Musuh'tradisi STF - SIGS disebut2 sebagai juara mase tu. Ye la. SIGS band mmg glamer kat Johor.Although STF boleh dikatakan glamer jugak mase tu, *sbb byk la jugak wat performance*, tp SIGS mmg disebut2 la sbg Johan.

Sebelom kami bertolak, we did another round of practice @ hockey field. Our batch turun beramai2 bagisupport la kat we all. Perghh.. The pressure was damn.. Tak boleh nak gambarkan mase tu. We were shoutingto the juniors dlm line. Sorang2 muke mcm harimau, singa sumer ada. Pressure!

We arrived @ Dataran Bandaraya dan terus solat Zohor. Sambil tu dah denga dah band2 skolah lain warm up.There were SIGS, SDJ, skool from Segamat, and ade lagi 1 skool. Tak silap mase tu we all perform no 4 b4 SIGS. The skool from Segamat starts first. SDJ dgn api2 lagi. Then finally it was our turn to perform. Masuk padang, then the rest was history. That year, was the 1st time we all use American style marching. Tak sepenuhnya tp ade la march ala2 ketam sumer tu. Lenguh ok!

The time has finally come for the result. STF dok kat belah kiri skali. EC boys were standing rite next to me.'Kak.. kak.. anak buah akak nangis tu' I was numb to be honest. Numb coz I dunno our faith. Numb coz SIGS was good too. And yes, anak2 buah percussionist, ade yg nangis. Tatau la nangis takut ke ape. 'STF menang ni kak. Dun worry' Sib baik la aku dlm baris, kalau tak mau aku hempok aje mamat ni. But hey, thank u for believing in STF! Hehehe. When the announcer announced SIGS as the runner up, makin la berdebar2 jantung ini. And yes, kita ditabalkan juara pada tahun itu. Feels like touching the sky.

My wish for today is, for STF to regain the Championship title. Though we, the Srikandi Band were unable toattend the event, doa kami sentiasa bersama2 STF band. I believe fellow Srikandi will pray for the gals too. Baru atau lama, dulu atau sekarang, the spirit within never change.

Waiting on the World to Change

You know how you never really spoke to that particular senior when you were at STF, because you both moved in different circles? And then you bump into them in a city somewhere and suddenly there exists a bond beyond just seeing a fellow Malaysian in a foreign land - here's a face you actually know and share something beyond nationality, ethnicity and an equal love for nasi lemak! I think being abroad does that to you; and funnily enough, there are more Srikandis that I went to STF with doing the expat thing abroad than I initially expected. (The Class of 93 seems to have dibs on Britain, for some reason... )

Deciding to move abroad isn't as easy as the idea of wanting to move abroad makes it seem to be. There are perks - better pay is almost a given, but you actually do reach a point where money can't make all the other things that nag on go away. A friend of mine once happened to sit next to a Malaysian businessman on the bus in London - he moved to London for business reasons, but went home every month for a few days to see to his family. Best of both worlds, thought my friend and proceeded to tell him so; Not quite, he replied. You will reach a point where you've been abroad for so long, you pine for your roots. If you're lucky, they might still be there if you decide to go back. If not, you may have lost them forever. Whenever I reflect on this I think I get his point more and more.

But however well you speak the language, however embedded their dry wit and obsession of the weather is within you, for every minute that you live abroad, you are always on the outside looking in. There are constant reminders everywhere that you are not one of them even though as a Malaysian you can vote in the British local and general elections. And that as a non-permanent resident your taxes goes back into a benefit system you have no right to claim; and therefore, irony of ironies, it is your hand that feeds the mouths of the unemployed yobs who give you grief on the streets and tell you to go home.

So if you miss home (which I do), why move and pursue a career abroad? The old adage, hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri, lebih baik negeri sendiri, must have some truth in it or it would not have endured the years; although part of me thinks it was really coined by a trader in the olden days who was miffed that he had to return to the Malay Peninsular while his mates were living it up in Portugal, Goa, the Arabs or wherever.

But back to the question, and while I refuse to speak for everyone, for me my move abroad was a culmination of many circumstances and many events. I suppose deep down inside I had always wanted to return to the country where I grew up, but that was mostly a nostalgic element, not unlike wishing I was young enough to do STF all over again. It doesn't take long to realise that Britain in the 1980's is nothing like what it is today. [For starters Liverpool are useless and Man United are actually winning!]

It was the small, small things that made me decide to move here. Things like, having personal space. Being able to come in to work in my jeans and t-shirt. Having options, making choices. Responsibility for myself coming first before responsibility for others, however selfish that may seem. The fact that I had limited roots and committments, save a car, back home helped. It's easier when you have nothing tying you down like that. No mortgage, no man, no kids.

I get accusations of selfishness and arrogance from certain parties when they find out I work abroad; they tell me that I am sombong and I think I am too good for Malaysia, and that I am not contributing to building the country. I admit I am selfish, because I put my own personal needs first. But I think it's unfair to say that I don't contribute. At the barest minimum there is foreign currency flowing in from my pockets into the Malaysian economy. But on top of that I still engage with Malaysia and Malaysians back home. Perhaps not exactly in the same way that some people would like, but I think I chip in a tolerable amount into the collective nation-building pot.

Contribution, after all, is an all-encompassing concept. Coming from a school like STF, I've always believed that collectively as a group, we Srikandis were meant to affect change. That the buck does not stop after you graduate, get married and have kids (preferably in that order). Sure, not every one of us will be the Zeti Akhtars of the world, but you don't need to pitch in at the macro level to make a difference. We were all born with roles; and even at the micro level, as a mother, sister or aunt there is always positive change to be made.

Or so I think. But what do I know, right? I haven't even hit 30 yet.
